In the earlier vineyard update I touched on managing vineyard growth.

Maintaining the vines in hedge-like rows ensures even sun exposure and airflow to the vines.

Our rows are 2 metres wide and planted north to south allowing the vine canopy to maximise their ‘solar panel’ effect. Well kept rows also permit ease of tractor passage required to maintain the health of the vines- weeds & fungicide treatments (organic).

Catch wires ares used to hold vines into a hedge. These are 2 wires on either side of the row of vines that are lowered at the early stage of growth, raised progressively and attached to the trellis posts. The video link will better explain; https://youtu.be/h6e2MB8KP9E
